The K-drama dating game just got a wild upgrade, and honestly, it looks dangerously addictive. Netflix has dropped the main trailer of its upcoming Korean rom-com series ‘Boyfriend on Demand’, and guess who is leading this dreamy chaos? None other than Blackpink star Jisoo. Yes, your bias is now your virtual girlfriend… and maybe your emotional therapist too.

About the ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ trailer

Jisoo plays Mi-rae, a webtoon producer who is totally done with her exhausting office life. Deadlines, stress, and zero romance. She’s living the classic “work, eat, sleep, repeat” nightmare.

So what does she do? She signs up for a subscription-based virtual dating simulation that promises the boyfriend of her dreams. Sounds harmless… until it isn’t.

The app lets users create fantasy dates based on their ideal type. Basically, your dream man, your dream date, your dream universe all customised.

But the trailer hints that perfect virtual love might mess up her real-world emotions in ways she never expected.

While Mi-rae is busy living her best romantic life in simulations, reality keeps popping up in the form of Kyeong-nam, played by Seo In-guk. He is not a fantasy prince. He is just… there. An ordinary guy, crossing paths with her again and again at work, slowly becoming her “overtime work buddy.”

Their bond builds quietly, without dramatic background music or perfect scripted dates. This slow-burn connection becomes the emotional anchor of the show making Mi-rae question if flawless fantasy can ever beat messy, real feelings.

Director promises multiple romances in one show

The series is directed by Kim Jung-sik, known for fun titles like “Work Later, Drink Now” and “No Gain No Love.” He revealed that one of the most exciting parts of the show is how Mi-rae experiences many different love stories across various universes, all inside a single series.

He also shared that he focused on showing Jisoo’s many charms by giving her different jobs and slightly altered personalities in each virtual world.

This way, her acting in the fantasy scenes feels totally different from her grounded, tired real-life character.

And wait till you hear the guest lineup. The virtual boyfriend roster includes special appearances by Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Lee Hyun-wook, Jay Park, Kim Young-dae and Lee Sang-yi.

Supporting cast members Ha Young and Yoo In-na round out the world around her.

The show premieres on March 6 and is produced by Whynot Media, Baram Pictures and Kakao.
